Alternatives to Google Forms

Alternative to: Google FormsMicrosoft FormsTypeformSurveyMonkey

Course sign-ups, class dinners, end-of-year questionnaires, RSVPs for a meeting: almost everything now goes through an online form, and that form is almost always a Google Form. The thing is, people put their own information into forms: names, email addresses, phone numbers, sometimes opinions or health details. With Google Forms all of it ends up on the servers of an advertising company, and the people answering didn't even choose Google: whoever created the form did.

The alternatives listed here all work in the browser, with nothing to install, and none of them ask respondents to sign up. They differ in the details: CryptPad Form and LiberaForms can encrypt answers so that not even the server operator can read them; EUSurvey and Framaforms are completely free; LimeSurvey is the best fit for long, complex questionnaires and Tally is the simplest and has a very generous free plan, but it isn't free software.

If your form is only meant to find a date that works for everyone, have a look at the group scheduling tools instead.
